Authors who can write from first person POV with out saying I, I, I make me happy. The book was constructed well. The only confusing part was the mythology. 7 clans, 6 rings, two of which are betrothed. Tends to get confusing, expecially when the names for the clans and the people of history were extemly difficult to pronounce, let alone remember. These characters were in their early twenties, yet all they did was kiss. If the author wanted to create a love triangle with angst, she shouldve used a little more sex appeal to muddle things up. I was a little turned off by the main character only because she was whiney and her GBF (gay best friend), Colt, was always there to comfort her. Yeah he wasnt gay, but he sure acted like it. Other than my pessimistic views, the book was just ok. Although this book is a bit long-winded, I am really hooked on the story. I can handle long-winded as long as it helps to add to the setting and plot even if it's not necessary, as opposed to endless drivel from whiney characters. Since this book is DEFINITELY the former, I'm good with the long book. As I write this I am also thinking of book 2, Promises, and the novella, Fated, because I have read them already and am very attached to the characters. It's difficult to recall whether I fell in love with them during this first installment or later but wither way, once you read this you will continue with the series and love them too. I can't wait for book 3 to come out!
