Delightful and funny, Victoria Twead paints a fantastic picture of life in a small village in Andalucia, Spain. The book really does feel like you are 'living' with Joe and Vicky (Beeky!), complete with mad feral cats, interesting neighbours, donkeys and chickens. I loved Victoria's writing style. It's friendly, easy and just like talking with a friend. Their life in Spain and the journey to actually living there is interesting and full of challenges which Victoria documents with humour and love.Be prepared to want to read the next book, Two Old Fools - Olé!, because by the end of the first book, you'll want to know what happens next! Found this book through BookBub daily email recommendation. Can't recall if it was free or a few dollars. If I paid money for it, it was worth every cent. What a delightful book. Joe and Vicki were tired of the gray English skies so off they moved to a small village in Spain. Joe said he would do it for five years then they'd see if they would stay or not. They purchased a run down house and.....hilarity and hard work ensued! You will meet old Sancho who walks his cat every night and makes bodily noises; his wife Marsha whose hairpins fly with every shake of her head; Judith and her Chanel wearing, pot smoking Mother who live in the next village; Geronimo and his three dogs; Paco, Bethina, Sophia, little Paco, the Mayor and many more eccentric and unique individuals. Then there are the chickens, oh my...their names alone will keep you in stitches. And when you get to the story of Cocky, well, you just have to read the book! 5 stars it is!
