Chico is a chick that is afraid of EVERYTHING. His father tries to get him to play outside and says the Golden Chicken would swoop in and save the day if there was ever trouble. Chico decided to go find him and set off on a journey. He climbed a mountain only to find there was no Golden Chicken, but Chico became known as Chico the Brave after finding the self-confidence to overcome his fears. Story could be used with readers who are afraid of things in life. Pictures tie-in well with the story. Chico was born a chicken, chicken. He was afraid of his shadow, as well as just about everything else. When his dad told Chico about the mighty golden chicken, Chico needed to meet this superhero and know how he was never afraid. But in doing this Chico began to face his own fears by talking to the Llama Llama Gang and scaling the tallest mountain. Turns out the golden chicken was inside Chico the whole time. Chico the Brave lets us all know that good things come from facing our fears.
