I loved the movie for this and the manga is really pretty close to the first quarter of the movie as far as the basic plot. I have never read a manga except for Beautiful Creatures so I wasn't used to it being read the opposite way as you read English so it took a bit for me to understand who to read it and also to get comfortable with reading it that way. The drawings are amazing and I loved the action they expressed in each panel. I am looking forward to continuing with this series. The Vampire’s AssistantA book called “The Vampire’s Assistant” created by Darren Shan, is about a young boy named Darren Shan who becomes a vampire’s assistant (as you can see the protagonist’s name is the same as the creator’s). The story tells of a young energetic boy who one night gets a flyer from a strange, mysterious man. The next day he shows the flyer he received to his friends Steve Leopard and others, bruiting to them about the premiere of an odd ball circus call “cirque du freak.” Darren asked if they wanted to accompany him. Unfortunately two out of the three of his friends couldn’t come with him to cirque du freak only to leave Steve Leopard. Later that day they went to the event. Darren and Steve see amazing acts; there were werewolves, little guy, a man with big hands! But the most exciting act for the two friends was the spider that could be controlled by the sound of a flute. After leaving the circus he is left coveting for the spider: enough for him to steal it that is. Once steals the spider he shows it to Steve. Steve gets bitten by the spider injecting him with a lethal poison… Then Darren is forced to make a decision that will change his life forever. If I had to rate this story 1/5 I would rate this 5/5. The author imprinted fruition and tragedyIn the story. The best thing about the book is that it isn’t predictable. I thought the plot was amazing. Just the thought of vampirism revolving around a boy sparked my interests. I was interested in knowing what the young boy would be going though; The losses he would have to cope with. I thought the development of the characters in the book were great also. I loved how as time when by Darren started to mature: dealing with losses, handling problems, and handling jaunts ahead of him. Not only did Darren have good character development but other as well as future characters. I would this book to anyone who likes reading about tragedies.
