Marcus lost his long time lover to street violence and now guards his neighborhood at night, striving to do what he couldn’t do when his lover was alive.Ben is a grad-student, working the streets to pay for school. He has a dark past that allows him to disassociate from his body for the money, but his heart is jealously guarded behind a stone wall. One night, Marcus rescues Ben from some bad men and the two hit it off right away. Something in the other draws the two together and soon they are spilling stories neither thought would see the light of day.Everything is going great until Ben’s past comes back to haunt him and suddenly there is danger knocking on the door and threatening their newfound love.**This is part one of three, and once you read it, you’ll look for the next two installments. I recommend buying the anthology (5 in total) just to save you the anxiety of wondering “what happens next?!” because it ends on a total cliff-hanger.This is a fast-paced, very readable story about two broken men finding solace in one another. Though there is a significant age difference (about 20 years) it doesn’t really play a role in the story.I liked the MCs as well as the secondary characters and highly recommend this series. Ugh...cliffhangers. So glad the series is done or I would be extremely irritated.I like the characters and see a lot of potential here, but I thought the sudden jump into bed didn't make sense with the traumatic back stories we were given. Also, I don't like time jumps in the beginning of a relationship. I want to see it develop! I want to experience those initial conversations, not be told about them. I'll read on, though, because I want more of Marcus and Ben.
What do You think about City Knight: Working It (2013)?
