Conversations With A Moonflower (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
I had heard of this story, but didn't pick it up until I went shopping for Mother's Day gifts. It is a beautiful memoir about a trip to the country in New York state after the author's grandmother passed away. While taking care of the odds and ends of cleaning out the farmhouse and preparing to sell it, their Amish neighbors invite them to watch the opening of the moonflower--so named because the flower only blooms at night. The rest of the book are the reflections of life experiences learned. Very uplifting! i LOVED this book! It is so short you can read it in less than two hours, but it is full of things you feel are true. Though the author talks to a flower and it answers her, you somehow believe this could happen. It certainly made me want to see a moon flower! She offers free seeds, but they can grow to five feet tall, and I don't know where I would put it. I would absolutely recommend this one.(By the way, the author lives in Utah as I do.)
