I won an ARC in a Twitter contest from Lauren Dane and I'm so happy I got to read Count on Me early.Count on Me is book #3 in the Petal, Georgia and so far this is my favorite in the series.Caroline Mendoza left Petal 16 years ago when her mom was murder and her father went to prison for the crime. Caroline never believed that her dad was the killer and she decided to go become a lawyer in order to help set him free.unfortunately her dad died in prison but she is not giving up hope that she'll clean his name and find her mom's real killer. Caroline came back to Petal to be closer to her sister and brother that were raised by her grandparent in Petal while she was raised by her father's family on the West coast.I really enjoyed reading Count on Me, first of all because I loved the heroine, Caroline is a strong woman, she is a successful lawyer, she is not afraid to keep trying to find her mom's real killer even when her grandparents are against it and even when she starts to receive threats. The hero, Royal Watson, a sexy hot farmer, is not a new character and we saw him in previous books in the series since he dated Anne Murphy for many years. It's been about a year since Royal and Anne broke up for good and he's ready to find a lasting relationship get married and have kids, all the things that Anne didn't want. As soon as Royal and Caroline meet again there are sparks between them and they start dating. Anne is trying to cause troubles but Royal and Caroline don't let her. I loved the scene where Caroline put Anne in her place and let her know that she blow her chance with Royal. I really enjoyed the romance between Royal and Caroline, they had chemistry and they didn't play games with one another. Royal was very supportive of Caroline and he defended her against people in the town that didn't like he coming back and saying that her dad is not the real killer. I didn't like Caroline grandparents, especially her grandmother that was very mean to Caroline. Caroline sister's boyfriend was so obnoxious I just wanted to slap him.Caroline brother Shep is the only family member that is really happy she is back and wants to spend time with her.I enjoyed reading about characters from previous book, both from the Petal series but also about the Chase family and I think the close family and friends ties is one of the things I love most about Lauren Dane's books. I highly recommend reading Count on Me and you don't have to read book 1&2 in the series but I do think you'll enjoy this story more if you'll read them all. This was the best Petal book by far. It was thrilling book that I couldn't put down until I finished it.Royal and Caroline were great characters that were well rounded, and it was refreshing that they didn't have the normal drama that usually follows the Chase and Petal series. This was an incredibly emotional ride. There were parts that made me so mad, parts that made me happy, laugh, and parts that made me so sad because I know things like that still happen in today's world.Bravo Lauren Dane, you have created a story that is fantastic and realistic, and I'm sure your fans will be talking about this one for a very long time!
