And while Megan had enjoyed every second of it, it was almost as though it had been tinged with desperation. And of all the adjectives she’d use to describe Sawyer—sexy, charming, personable—desperate did not make it anywhere on that list. “This sort of behavior,” Megan said, waving her arm around at the bed from where she lay on the pillow next to Sawyer, “is not helping me get the countermeasure completed.” Megan expected some lighthearted or even sarcastic remark from Sawyer. But instead he rolled over so he was lying completely on top of her, face just inches from hers, his weight propped on his elbows. “You are trying your best to complete the countermeasure, right, Megan?”
