Crank’s mate is Anok, a neon green haired man they found on the planet Pakil. Crank’s need to drag Anok off and claim him is almost overwhelming but Anok just scowls at him. Well, maybe Crank should not have kidnapped Anok off his planet but protecting his mate is his number one priority. Crank is a cougar shapeshifter which presents a problem for the crew; he has to mate and only has less than a full moon cycle to claim his mate. If Crank doesn’t taste his mate’s blood by the time the moon cycle changes, he’ll go feral and have to be put down. When Crank carries his scared and confused mate off to his quarters to claim him, Anok says “absolutely not”. Crank has no choice but to leave Anok in his quarters and acts defeated. He knows he’s going to go feral and be put down because his mate doesn’t want him. Will Anok’s fear of Crank taking his freedom away cost him the love of a lifetime? Crank's Craving by Stormy Glenn and Lynn Hagen is the sixth book in the Lady Blue Crew series; a series which needs to be read in order because each book builds on the previous book. Crank is a cougar shapeshifter which presents a real problem when he smells his mate. His need to mate overtakes his judgment causing him to make a rash decision. Anok has only seen his parent’s form of mating, which was abusive and he refuses to be involved in any part of mating. He thinks having a mate will kill him. I like how these two needed to learn to trust each other, they needed to learn how to communicate and what love really means. Watching them discover true love was really beautiful. So far, this is one of my favorite books in this series because it has some very strong characters that have to come a long way to find the love of a lifetime. I know I am looking forward to the next book in this series, I think these two ladies make up an amazing writing team. This was a fun read about one of the more ‘traditional’ types of mating bonds well known from werewolf stories. The variation of having a shifter run around a spaceship made me laugh and by the time even more of the nonsensical antics from the various mates were added, this turned out to be one of the funnier volumes of the series for me.Crank is a cougar shifter, not a werewolf, but his fight with his ‘inner animal’ when presented with his mate was just as ferocious as any were’s trying not to turn when the moon comes up. And he still has one month to claim his mate once he’s met him. Not that Anok is anything like Crank expected, and, like any alpha male, that completely throws him. You’d think seeing all his crewmates struggle he’d realize it wasn’t going to be al that easy. That didn’t matter much to me, though, the goings-on still made me laugh.Anok is definitely not a fast learner. Granted, he is new on the Lady Blue and was kidnapped, but he isn’t exactly trying really hard to figure out what the deal is. He spends more time feeling sorry for himself and trying to figure out how to get back to his old life. Even thought he admits it was pretty horrible. Once he does get a clue, though he goes after Crank in some totally unexpected ways. The mates’ antics made me laugh as well. As ever, they live from one crazy idea to the next, and adding a further member to their circle doesn’t help. The mix of personalities is fun, and, amazingly, they do get things done. If you like crazy adventure stories in space, mates who have no clue how to talk to each other (at first), and a thickening plot in the background as the people who hunt the Lady Blue’s crew get closer, you will probably like this book.
