Really enjoyed this book! I had never read anything by Roisin Meaney before, and when Borders was going out of business, I picked up dozens of books by authors I'd never read because now was the time to check them out. Glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters. Felt sorry for the main character. but then realized I shouldn't have - she was where she was supposed to be the whole time. Fun book, fun read and very easy. You can learn a lot about your own life in these characters. In the tradition of Maeve Binchy, Ms. Meaney spins a tale of Irish village life. Our principal focus is Hannah Robinson, who has just opened a cupcake shop AND been dumped by her boyfriend. But Hannah is not the only one we’ll meet in tiny Clongarvin. Other folks include:• Adam, Hannah’s best friend, who has fallen for a musician,• Leah, the woman who “stole” Hannah’s boyfriend, Patrick, and• Alice, the friend of Hannah’s mother, who is dealing with a spouse and his substance abuse. All of the women’s emotional tales evoke bitter and sweet feelings. This was not as cupcake-focused as I wanted it to be, but it was still a decent diversion.
What do You think about Cupcake Club (2012)?
A perfect beach read- a quick and easy story about friendship, love, and cupcakes.
