I enjoyed this book immensely and cannot wait for Doornebos' second, UNDRESSING MR. DARCY. Watching Chloe Parker get herself into one sticky situation after the next was hilarious (I flashed back to I Love Lucy more than once) and I ALWAYS love watching one woman struggle over her emotions for two very different men. All of the main characters really came alive for me, as if I was watching a TV show in my head. While I did guess the twist fairly early on, there were plenty of details and other subplots that kept me guessing... and I still enjoyed every minute.As a history buff, I also thought Doornebos' research into what life was really like in Regency England (not all pretty, was it?) gave the book a huge something extra. I still think of that cold, recycled bath water almost every time I hop in my warm shower... and I'm SO grateful to be living in modern times!!Whether or not you're a fan of Jane Austen (though, why wouldn't you be?), I highly recommend DEFINITELY NOT MR. DARCY. It's not War & Peace, but it's not supposed to be. A year later, I still remember and chuckle at scenes that replay like movies. That, to me, earns it five stars. Highly recommend this fun book that everyone in my book club loved! It's a lively romp that keeps you turning pages with twists and turns in the plot. Great juxtaposition between the Austin Regency times (to satisfy all the history and Jane Austen fans) and modern times (to satisfy everyone else). It's clever, funny and well-written. A most enjoyable read! Looking forward to the next one from Ms. Doornebos -- Undressing Mr. Darcy. Sounds juicy!
