Definitely Not Mr. Darcy (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

If you like Jane Austen, you will enjoy the Austen references, the wit, and the many and fun plot references to the original novels. You may not like all the references to cleavage and bulging pants and the unnecessary use of multiple near-sex scenes (like a Doris Day movie, the heroine barely keeps her "virtue" as they say) before the heroine realizes which hero she should focus on. It's predictable but fun, and it's cliched yet I could not stop reading, and not just because I was making myself finish. I really wanted to read this book almost as soon as I started it, because I liked the heroine, even if she wasn't bright, and I liked the hero, even if he is an idiot. I like the setup--it was really entertaining. She is a good writer, and I think I will look for another book by this author. I have many things to say about this book. First of all, I really liked the ending. It was funny and refreshing. The beginning, however, was slow, a little too slow for me. I get it, you need some background, but still, it just didn't work for me. Someone might completely disagree with my opinion and that's why I don't always believe reviews. Keep in mind though, this book takes a while to pick up. Overall, it is a decent novel. Well written, no doubt, just a little dull at times.

What do You think about Definitely Not Mr. Darcy (2011)?

Fun book, but I was hoping for much more in the end.

Silly, predictable, yet somewhat entertaining.
