Definitely one of my favorites in this series. Jackie is a gunslinger and a sorcerer straight from the old west. Calling everybody "hoss" and being as polite as the old westerns would like us to believe everybody was at that time. Very old fashioned MC but he is very charming and has nice no-nonsense attitude that fits him well. The story is mix of couple of smaller PI cases and the big one that extends through the whole book. The main mystery was well done. The bad guys stayed hidden until the very end and there was enough happening to keep me interested but not over whelmed.Enjoyable read. 3.6 stars. Interesting addition to the 'Dance' universe (one of my absolute favourites which I adore and re-read often), but an essential component was missing here or remained superficial in my opinion. The actual romantic relationship was introduced too late in the plot, after suggesting another possibility in that respect. I am not even sure the term romance applies, or simply an intense physical attraction combined with loneliness and longing to have someone close... The plot and individual characters were quite engaging, yet the story felt only partially developed and I wanted a much more solid love connection for Jackie.
I really loved this one. It had some interesting twists and turns, and kept my attention. :-)
