Danger's Edge: Wildfire At Camp David (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

If you like adventure and quick thinking youll' love this awesome book. Its a total cliffhanger in some parts. Ecspecilly when the 3 main charecters,(Luke, Theo and Callie) try to get through an impassible gate and all the hi- tech equipment and the deadly wildfire that killed Isabelle (so sad) and many other people in the story were injured as well. If i say anything else then I will give away more . I suguest that u read the book yourself. Not especially plausible, but if McGyver were the president's son, this would be his story. The president's son Luke has invited his friend Theo to Camp David for the first time, and is hoping he will like it and come back. It can be boring and frustrating to always have Secret Service agents tailing you, keeping you from doing anything fun. However, an earthquake, resulting wildfire and other unforeseen events derail all the well-planned safety measures and leave Luke, Theo and the new chef's daughter Callie effectively trapped within the security system, with the fire approaching. Can Luke overcome from the coddling he's always resented and pull off their escape? Sometimes the descriptions of the situation and/or solutions were a bit hard to follow, and the pile-up of bad stuff was hard to believe, as were some of the things the kids did to escape. However, both the details about Secret Service protocols and Camp David life, as well as the feelings a White House kid might have (worrying about the problems of the world, fear for their parent's safety)are very well-done. Adventure junkies will enjoy this.
