Das Große Durcheinander: Alzheimer, Meine Mutter Und Ich. Er, Meine Mutter Und Ich. (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

This book made me cry. It treated Sarah's Mom like a real person, not just a patient suffering the indecencies of Alzheimer's. The author has a talent at capturing the small moments — pausing during a tough conversation with Mom about the disease to tell us how much she loves her Mom’s hands. I learned just as much bout how Sara and her family coped with her Mom’s disease as I did about what happened to her Mom. There just enough moments of humor and lightness here to keep it from being a complete downer. Evocative artwork. Tangles .... it was a heat-warming book that gives the reality and journey of Alzheimer's. I read this book in order to understand what is it like to go through all that pain and loneliness when an individual's love ones are going through Alzheimer's. After reading the book , I felt like I could never really understand what it feels like to lose someone like that over a disease but the book help me to see that it is the disease that is making Midge forget but the true Midge is still in her ... Just imprison by the disease. I encourage people to actually read this book because to see that people who have Alzheimer's were once vibrant people who were independent and vibrant , just like Midge.
