Das Mädchen Mit Dem Stahlkorsett (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
I loved the characters and the little romance, but I absolutely hated everything about the story. The story was awful. The whole thing was written in an extremely cheesy way. I felt like I was reading an awful comic book at parts. I LOVED Griffin and Finley! I did NOT get enough of them. I loved all the characters, I just did not like the book at all. I wish they could put those characters into another story. The Girl in the Steel Corset. The title? Interesting. The book cover? Beautiful. The storyline? Decent. The book itself? I thought it could be a lot better. Throughout the novel, I was constantly amazed at how bad I found it. The plot was unsurprising, and slightly confusing for me, though that may have been the fact this is my first steampunk novel. The characters didn't really work for me, especially Finley, who was portrayed as the helpless victim in everything. From the dual-personality, to the accusations on her credibility from Sam and Aunt Delia, this girl was always getting the short end of the stick, with one exception. The exception was the love triangle forming between her, Jack Dandy, and Griffin King. Aside from Finley, the other characters weren't anything special. Sam was easily misled, Griff was entranced by Finley from the first time he met her, and Emily. . .Well, I actually found Emily to be pretty decent, besides the appearance of another love triangle. All in all, I don't believe that I will be reading the sequel to The Girl in the Steel Corset. The book wasn't a total loss, because while I did not positively love it, it did introduce me to steampunk novels, something I have never tried before.
