I wasn't sure I was going to be able to relate. This is a story about Edward, a HAMSTER. I had guinea pigs and gerbils. From what I remember, my guinea pig, Farley, wasn't nearly as angst-ridden or philosophical as Edward...he did squeak a lot though. This is a fun book. The collected thoughts of Edward during his short life focus on the meaning of life, freedom & happiness, and that damn wheel. Poor wretch. "Saturday May 3rd: I've decided not to use the wheel again.Sunday May 4th: I've decided to use the wheel, but only at night, when they're sleeping. I'll scratch and claw and rattle the cage, just to annoy them, to show them I will not do tricks - that if I do anything, it is for ME, not for them." *Just hilarious. If you've owned a hamster and/or are inclined to any sort of angst, this delightfully illustrated tome will lighten the burden of existence.A highly recommended little book, ideal as a stocking filler, for by the loo or as a treat for Eeyore types.
