Disclaimer: I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.Love is not a strong enough word for this book. I'm not usually a fan of fantasy, but this didn't seem like your typical run-of-the-mill fantasy story, so I gave it a shot, and boy am I glad I did!! The opening sequence just grabbed me, especially when the Brothers Grimm were mentioned, and I was reading as fast as I could to see where it would go from there. While at the start, it was a little hard to keep up with all the unusual names and where they belonged in the story/depiction of Fallada, it got easier the more I read. And speaking of Fallada, what beautiful descriptions! The author actually conveyed her image of Fallada and all its lands and inhabitants through her words, and I could picture everything in my mind as though I was standing there myself. Wonderful imagery, and it greatly adds to the story.Meanwhile, the characters are just loveable, especially Selena and Titus, and I can't wait to see what happens next, both with them and the land itself. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book, as the Epilogue has me sitting on the edge of my chair, wondering whose story will be told next, and how it will affect what we know so far.Amazing story I would recommend to pretty much anybody who loves making a movie in their head while reading =)5 stars (but really a ton more) Daughter of the Red Dawn just entered my top fae book list at no 2, just below fever. I am so impressed with this novel, and can't wait for the second edition. Selena is a seventeen year old girl with an abnormal speed ability. Her whole life she felt out of place and not fitting in with other humans. One day she meets a boy in the field, and this kicks off her wild new journey. Selena was never meant for the human world, she was meant for the world of Fallada, even more she is the princess of Damu and must lead the first battle against an evil queen. For a seventeen year old girl this is a total shock and she tries hard to run away from it. But destiny doesn't ask your approval merely your participation. She finds her truelove in the wereboy send to kill her, Titus. He was charged with her death before she could reach her world, but failed, instead he found his mate and choose to stand and fight with her. Soon they are preparing for the battle of the red dawn, and the first step to free their world of evil.A marvelous adventure, and very addictive. I was swept into the tale very fast, and Alicia's descriptive details about Fallada help me pitcure this wonderful world filled with remarkable creatures. I loved reading how a fearfull Selena embrached her destiny and became the daughter of the red dawn. Even more was the steamy love between her and Titus. If you are looking for a fabulous fae read, this is it. I am anxiously awaiting the second adition to this wonderful story.
What do You think about Daughter Of The Red Dawn (2012)?
I really liked the book but the ending seemed a little abrupt to me. Good read.
