3.5 starsIT ENDED WITH CLIFFHANGER NOoooooooooooooooooooooo!if you are familiar with Stroud's Bartimaeus trilogy, I would like to tell you that Bart's Sarcasm is being incarnated in the whispering skull, though it did Not talk that much, or in more proper words whisper.it is narrated by Lucy, though stroud's wrote it with a good neat proper female voice, yet am not really accepting it, wishing only that is was lockwood who narrated it, being my favorite charterer in this series.and am not really liking how Lucy is the smart brains, finding all the clues, and always saving the day , Hmph!the story itself is ok,interesting and with a nice chase, but the closure was somehow was weak, like the simplest of simple solutions, I even thought about it and discarded it, thinking it is too silly to be used, but either I am indeed a genius, or stroud didn't find a better solution to end the dilemma.the cliffhanger and the mystieris put for next books is really appealing, and I think the next book will be my fav. in this series.Just add more dedicated pages for Lock, and it would be a master piece.now I wait... Not as scary as the first one. Not plotted as tightly, either - it only got interesting after the halfway point. And it broke absolutely no new ground. If you've read the first, you will miss absolutely nothing if you don't read this second installment. A disappointment, especially from so fine an author. I'll still give it to my daughter to read, though. She'll enjoy dipping her toes back into the world of Lockwood & Co.
