It's a strange, recurring mistake of mine, to read the second, or sometimes third volume of a series first. I'll download from the library or Amazon/Goodreads will recommend one of them to me. I read Dex In Blue first because every resource had told me I would love it. Perhaps because of the "Gay for you" aspect. Anyway, I loved it! It didn't affect the story much at all to read it out of order and it made me go back and read Chase In Shadow, and Ethan in Gold is in my queue.Lovely book, with lovely characters. Dex comes to terms with his sexuality and Kane discovers that love can come in almost any color. (Or gender) Kane was so sweet and tender to Dex and it just touched my heart to read about these sweet boys falling for each other.To date, I have read six of Lane's books, though it seems like her name has been in my mind in a larger scope than that. As soon as I get through a stack that is waiting for me I'll read Ethan in Gold and eagerly await the next volumes. This is another one of those books that are like catnip for me. This story wasn't so much about getting together as it was about being together and developing a relationship into a forever love and that's what I love most. I love that Dex and Kane's relationship was built on a friendship and that it was about support and trust and honesty. I loved how simply Kane saw the world and how that managed to cut through to the heart of things. His insistence that what really matters was doing what it took to always sleep next to each other at night and wake up together in the morning was so perfect. I really bought their love and why they were a better as a couple than they were separate and reading their story was a real joy.I loved the first book in the series too, but thankfully this one kept a clearer narrative (not as many time jumps) and had fewer of the wording issues that threw me out of Chase in Shadow so I rated it higher. Plus as previously mentioned the relationship dynamics in Dex in Blue are my kryptonite and worth the extra star alone. I'm even willing to look the other way at the preposterous ending. (Really, is every couple in this series--gay porn stars mind--going to have a baby fall in their lap? Oh well, I don't care because I love the books anyway.)
