Diario De Sofia Desde El Cuarto De Baño De Chicas (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
Not really a nice book. As kids enter the age of technology, blogging may very well be a regular past time for them. They should know about repercussions of poor choices even with technology.This book is about anonymously posting gossip about people at school, regardless of if it hurts them. The teacher responds to some of the blogs that they aren't appropriate, but nothing ever negatively affects the blogger. Even the negative things she posts about her BFF is solved with a dessert bribery. The lesson isn't clear enough in this book to make it a recommended book for the audience it's intended for...4th grade through MS. This was ok - 6th grader writes up gossip she hears in the bathroom and then posts it on her blog later on that night. I think my main "eh" is that there's little self-reflection in Sophia's journal (or pre-blogging notebook); she never seems super critical of herself, which doesn't seem at all to jibe with real life. I think 4th through 6th graders or so would probably like this a lot, though, so my rating is specifically for me.
