Die Unheimliche Bibliothek (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
Something every Murakami fan should get around to reading. The greatest delay for me was the price, given its packaging I couldn't even look inside! However, since price shouldn't play into the rating the bottom line is that if you enjoy Murakami's prose you'll really like this. The accompanying pictures add embellishments and made me pause more than I usually do when reading. It made me wonder if I hadn't paused enough in my old favorites. It feels short enough to be read as a long bedtime story (especially if you never want your kid to go back to a library). Criticism: Sheepmen, always with the sheepmen. What an odd book! Murakami writes a very short story with big fonts, and some very strange pictures. The plot is about a boy who goes to a library where he gets captured and is forced to memorize three boring books otherwise he will not be released. The Sheep Man from his other books makes a return. The book is truly bizarre and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It took me about 30 minutes to read it, and after I was done, I was still scratching my head.
What do You think about Die Unheimliche Bibliothek (2013)?
Such a strange little book — it seemed slightly confused but was captivating nonetheless.

Strange, but beautiful. Libraries are great terrible places.
