My 4-year-old selected this for my appearance as Guest Reader in her Pre-K class. The kids loved it! Dinosaur is a super lovable character, the book is easy to read and enjoy for early childhood beginning readers and it was short enough that I didn't lose the short attention spans of my little audience members. Great illustrations as well, combination of fanciful art and some real life elements. We've also enjoyed reading other Dinosaur adventures by this author since summer - Dinosaur vs Bedtime and Dinosaur vs The Library! I liked this book, but didn't love it. I think that the premise of Dinosaur going through life by roaring his way through every situation is wearing a tiny bit thin. In this case it was cute, with the idea that it's such a challenge for Dinosaur to be good for Christmas. The best part of the book is he "wins" the challenges by not doing his typically destructive thing. As a Christmas book for kids who love the earlier books in this series, I think it would be a great choice. As a stand-alone for kids unfamiliar with the other books, perhaps not so great.
not as good as i thought it was gonna be, thought it would be more interesting,
