Doing Hard Time (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

A dot-to-dot kind of summer reading....The plot and setup on this Stone Barrington escapade is very thin. Everything just fits in the box, way too neatly. Want to run into a fugitive -- boom, just stop for gas. Want to get a job -- boom, just ask. Want to find a girlfriend -- boom, just meet one. It's almost comical in the setup. It's kind of a shame...because Teddy Fay, introduced a few books back, is a great character now lost in fluff. I miss the attention to detail. Definitely kept my interest, as all Stuart Woods books do. However it didn't seem much like a "Stone Barrington Novel" since Stone wasn't in it very much. He definitely wasn't the main character. That left me feeling a bit disappointed, but at the same time, as I said, I was intrigued. I felt it was a but repetitive and could have been kept shorter though. I'm glad I read most of his books in a matter of a couple of days because if I didn't, I probably would have lost track of who was who in this one. Many people in the book are running from something and have multiple aliases. The narrator refers to them by their different names depending on who they are talking to at the time. I enjoyed the book, but it's probably my least favorite in the series.

What do You think about Doing Hard Time (2013)?

A little too much of the kids and too little Dino, but otherwise solid.
