Dr. Horrible And Other Horrible Stories (2010) - Plot & Excerpts
A bunch of very short stories written by Zack Whedon and illustrated by various artists. The Evil League of Evil story was my favorite and the only story I actually thought was good instead of just ok or bad. It was the funniest of the stories and the only one to actually make me let out a chuckle. The other stories were either trying too hard to be funny, and failing, or they were steeped in sad subject matter that made them un-enjoyable. I found all of the artists to be mediocre at best. The stories themselves added nothing to the source material (Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog), instead they just sort of unnecessarily exist. The one major highlight of this book is the intro, which is just absolutely hilarious. If you are a fan of 2008 webisodes you are going to love this graphic novel! There are five stories in total and they aren't overtly long, mostly serving as an introduction of the protagonists of the series like Doctor Horrible, Hammer, Penny, Evil League of Evil,Johnny Snow, Moist... Not to mention that it is quite quirky, hilarious, well drawn and well written. I found myself cracking up every now and then. I highly recommend it.
