This is the second novel that is centered around Valentine Valley, a soap opera. Normally, I love Heather Graham's characters and her writing but this one was hard for me to get into, mostly because I disliked the main character, Serena. Yes, I understand that she was trying to show her as a spoiled, actress but every scene Serena was in involved her acting like a bratty child, and the actions taken by all of the characters just did not make sense. Rarely do I find a book where the characters irritated me so much but in this book, they did. The first book in the Valentine Valley series had a silly, almost campy feel to it, but this book did not keep up with that, it fell way short. After the first few chapters I was so sick of the constant sniveling that the characters were doing that I nearly stopped reading. I far prefer her other books to this one but if your only exposure to Heather Graham is in this book, please do give her other books a chance, you will not regret it.
