Edge Of Destiny (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

When I read this book I had a preorder waiting and beta weekends hadn't even started. So as a prequel for the game itself it was a good way to get excited and learn more about the 200 year gap between games. The story introduces us to the characters who will eventually become your mentors whatever race you choose. Despite the game being usually around a Mature rating this reads more like early teen fiction with rather simplistic story arcs and repetitive action (that felt more like a setup for the game's combat system than actual fights). The characters are likeable but by no means complex. The main reason to give this a read is not really for the quality of the writing but the lore it provides GW fans, however most major events within can be more or less deduced from within the game itself. Another 5 star from me regarding the second installment of this series! Once again I found myself recognizing the places and familiar with their respective races. As a Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 gamer, I really enjoyed the characters and places. I appreciated each character and how they were developed through the course of the book. The faced different dragon champions and faced off against an elder dragon at the end. Read through this great book and find out how it all unfolds!

1/4/11: fast, fun read. 6/22/12: re-read in preparation for GW2 later this year.

This book was ok but not near as good as the first one. I loved the first one.

Absolute crap. Bad writing, very rushed. Very not worth the price I spent.

Wasn't as good as the first one, characters felt less defined.

Much better than most books based on games or movies.
