Thunder Point is a lovely small town on the Oregon coast where this story takes place. The town is not large so almost everyone knows what is going on.Gina, her mom Carrie and her daughter Ashley all live in the same house. Gina is an unwed mom who has been raising her daughter with the help of her mom and they seem to be doing ok until Ashely suffers a terrible blow that hurts her physically and emotionally. Her mom is extremely concerned and they hope they can help her thru this very difficult time.Mac the Deputy Sheriff is seeing Gina and they both feel something special for each other. Gina never did marry the father of her child as he ran away. Mac's wife Cee Jay, left him over ten years ago to take care of there three younger children all by himself. Thanks to the help of his Aunt Lou, they bought a house together and moved in together so that she could help with the children. The past years have not been easy for him and trying to bring them up going thru difficult times for the two girls and one boy have taken its toll on Mac but he seems to have gotten thru it. With the help of Gina he now feels he is ready to move on and take the next step in his life and wants Gina to be a part of it.Out of the blue Cee Jay suddenly arrives in town wanting to see the children she abandoned more then ten years ago. She is beautiful and rich and Gina is worried he might want to take Cee Jay back and then her heart would be broken. Mac being a Sheriff is always suspicious and he is on "high alert" as to why she is back in town? He decides to hire a private investigator to check into her past? What is revealed to him from the investigator could actually put Cee Jay in jail. Mac has some very difficult decisions to make and he is counting on Gina to help him thru thisWe also meet Hank Cooper who inherited a bar and bait shop from his late friend Ben Bailey. Hank has put lots of time and effort transforming it into Ben & Coopers Bar.Hank seems to have finally found the true love of his life Sarah, who is divorced but has been taking care of her younger brother Landon for years. Sarah does not have a regular schedule, as she is a Coast Guard search and rescue pilot.Sarah is suddenly told by Buzz about a possible opportunity that might come up for her in the near future but would mean changing and possibly moving her and Landon away from Thunder Point. She usually does not keep secrets from Hank but this is one she is not even sharing with Landon. Suddenly Hank gets a call that will forever change his life. The characters are so real and the story is truly an enjoyable and interesting read. 4 Stars The Newcomer picks up from where The Wanderer ends...Mac and Gina have finally admitted their feeling to one another and have become a couple. Their teenage daughters are best friends and are both going through growing pains. Mac's ex has returned to town making Gina insecure, his aunt Lou angry and scared and his daughter, Eve hurt. Gina's daughter, Ashley is dumped by her college freshman boyfriend and his new girlfriend sent a fake naked pic to all those in his cell phone. This causes Ashley to get very depressed and Gina does not know how to deal with it all.I liked that this novel continues right after The Wanderer and like her other series, Virgin River the same characters are in this book. The main romance in this book is Gina and Mac but as they are single parents their children are prominent in this novel. The novel deals with cyber bullying and depression which we do not see a lot in adult books. I think it was a great storyline that hopefully raises awareness. Carr handled the situation quite well. This novel might not be everyone's cup of tea as it has more of the teens and their problem in this book. I enjoyed it and solidly recommend this novel and series.
What do You think about Een Nieuwe Start (2014)?
kept having to look at the back cover to see who the book was about. Too many stories going on...
