The Hero (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

The Hero. Book 3 of the Thunder Point series. This wonderful story was full of heroes. Heroes here. Heroes there. It was awesome. It was overflowing with Heroes. So much so in fact, one of the heroes stories slipped over into the next book of the series. A terrific read. So much going on. The book did not have a moment of slow time. It was all action, life, kids, construction, crisis and love. Glorious wonderful love. I recommend this one for anyone needing a busy love story. Enjoy. Sometimes Carr uses titles and at the end I say who was that supposed to be? I guess Rawley is the Hero. Rawley the grumbly ex Vietnam vet befriends a runaway woman and child who excaped from a cult commune. He helps her by giving them a home and a new start. The book updates the reader on the other characters in the series, while also introducing Laine - the FBI agent undercover in the Fellowship, and Devon who is trying to rebuilt her life. Rawley claims her as a relative and she settles in getting re-acclimated to tv, pizza, internet, and normal society. she meets Spencer the most grounded, responsible, trustworthy man you could ever meet. Spencer is new to town with his son Austin-who has a complicated family history. Spencer falls quick for Devon who wants to take it slow. He pursues and they begin to fall in love. Everything is going great until Spencer who has just recently become widowed panics. He had dealt with his wife's cancer for years and then his parents died. He thought he was dealing with all this but his timing stunk. Only after he gets Devon to trust and commit does he deal with grief and fear of it. The commune and its leader Jacob develop into a smaller scale "waco" type situation and Devon's daughter must be rescued by Spencer, Cooper, and Rawley who leads the mission to recover this child. Thus the title. Book 4 is better.

What do You think about The Hero (2013)?

2.75. It was ok; nothing to write home about. And Spencer disappointed me.
