I was gifted this copy of Embrace the Dark by Caris Roane for an honest review.Enter the Merhaine Realm World of vampires, trolls, fae, etc. "Mastyr" Vampire Gerrod , ruler of the Merhaine Realm and because of his magic, he is always blood starved, which only can be sated by what they call the blood rose. Along comes Abigale, who is human, from the parallel world in Flagstaff, AZ. She plans to open a bakery in Merhaine and sell her cupcakes. She has what she calls sluggish blood, and needs to have doctor's draw the excess out. They encounted the enemy at a wedding, Gerrod is drained from fighting, but the town is safe.Abigail is drawn to Gerrod, wave frequencies pass between the two and their passion for each other ignites. Will Abigail and "Mastyr" Gerrod connect? Is Abigail a blood rose and willing to Embrace the Darkness? I'm not telling. A very enjoyable read. This is the first novella of the Blood Rose Novella Series, and I look forward to reading the rest. I found I enjoyed this novella - with many novella's you have to have read other's in the series to understand what is happening-not the case here. It was just long enough and gave enough background info to understand the key players - and see all the possibilities for more stories to develop the series. And I love a good series! The main characters are interesting and the love story very sweet - the intimate scenes done very well. I enjoyed the blending of all the different types of characters - trolls, fae, etc! The additional humor throughout the story kept it moving fast! - Love the troll's characters - a new spin on the troll's that just made me laugh!I did receive this book free from the author - and am most grateful, as I will be looking for more in this series - there were characters I need to know what happens to!!!
