English Tea Murder (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

The Lucy Stone Mystery series titles are named mostly after American holidays, where Lucy lives in Tinker's Cove, Maine. This one is different in that it takes place in England. I love England and I love books that take me there! The nearby college is taking a trip to England, led by a professor. There's room for outsiders on the tour so Lucy and her 3 friends sign up for the trip. Unfortunately, on the plane flight there the professor has an asthma attack and dies; the death is termed natural but Lucy wonders. That's all that I'm going to say about the plot. I enjoyed the story but my gripe is with some of the characters themselves who wanted to always shop instead of visiting the wonderful sites. But the story is good and the mystery keeps the reader reading. I enjoyed it a lot. I found this to be an interesting read and a nice tour of England. The story line was good, well some of the plot was excellent, some of the plot not so much.I think my biggest issue with the story is how it was told. For me, I felt as if there were a lot of filler that didn't mean much to me as a reader. It was a lot of telling or talking about endless things that seemed to last on and one for pages. It was annoying and frustrating and made me skip over a page or two in each chapter because honestly, by skipping those pages I did not miss any of the story. I was still able to get to the end knowing all of the characters and their motives for the murder that followed.Even so, I found the story enjoyable and a light read that was easy to finish.
