Everything Leads To You (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

The list of words I could use to explain this book is too long for me to even start. I loved it. A different kind of love, but such a wonderfully written book. Points to Nina Lacour. Can't wait to read Hold Still. I really need to start taking note of how I keep finding these books, especially since this is such a good one. I love when I can't get a book out of my head, it's so good. My favourite thing about Everything Leads To You is how well the title ties into the novel. Makes sense, I know, but it's unbelievable. And it's not even often that it happens, maybe only three times throughout the entire novel. Makes all the sense in the world and just thinking about it makes my heart happy despite finishing the book yesterday. Not only am I a sucker for a soppy love story, but I'm a sucker for a story with killer friendships too, and this book is full of them. Stories about best friends are my absolute favourite, and the friendship Nina's written between Emi and Charlotte just makes my heart happy, and I'm unbelievably thankful every time I read a book like this for the best friends I have. They're the best. Even better than books. And in case you haven't picked it up, books are my favourite.I'm keen to read Nina's award winning novel Hold Still, but I'm not sure that it's next on the list. I have this thing that when I'm sad I just buy a ridiculous amount of books, so on top of the unread hundred plus I already have, I now have another four new books. Oops. While I can get behind LaCour's writing style-- she can put together some great sentences-- I could not connect to Emi and her love of all things movies and figuring out this mystery. I started losing it with the overimportance of the estate sale and then re-hashing scenes and identifying the scenes from memorabilia that was found. I have ZERO interest in movies mostly and certainly do not follow celebrities, etc. to be able to understand Emi's world. My only interest would have been in a uniquely general lesbian character that isn't dealing with the trauma of coming out but rather of just living her life, but I couldn't get past the movie nonsense. Not for me!
