Mina Esguerra gave a talk to our class this Monday, and she's so awesome. This book was also a part of our required reading list for that class and I haven't started it yet Monday, but I started reading it today and I was hooked! The copy I was reading was just the Wattpad free version so it ran until chapter 13 and so horribly bitin! So now I'm on a mission to find a print copy of the book.The book is a light read but it's very entertaining and interesting. I like how reading Ellie, I get how she feels so uncertain about her future and how she just wants to experience life to the fullest. And idk I'm rooting for Lucas but I also understand how Ellie's what-ifs with Don still holds her back, and not just re: Lucas. It's a very engaging read! The work environment in this story is very believable because it is something I’m familiar with, down to the Bangkok regional conference. I remember somebody commenting in one of the blog interviews with the author how she finds it interesting that the work environment in the Philippines seems to be a very social place. I found some of my very best friends in my first job, and I remember with fondness our first trip abroad to attend a regional conference (although not in Bangkok). This is why Mina is such an endearing author. She gets all the elements right and makes me wax nostalgic.
