Fairy Tale Interrupted: A Memoir Of Life, Love, And Loss (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

RoseMarie Terenzio was John F. Kennedy's assistant and worked for him during the years he published the magazine "George". Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis had passed away the year before he started the magazine, so RoseMarie did not get to meet her, but she became very close friends with John Jr. and also with his wife Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. She was not afraid to talk about their bad points (occasional flashes of temper) as well as their good points. They were VERY generous employers (Carolyn would give her a huge pile of gifts of designer clothes and accessories each Christmas; JFK Jr. would give her large checks for various occasions). She was also allowed to use the JFK vacation home at Hyannisport, MA for a couple of weeks every year, among numerous other perks. Needless to say, she was devastated when JFK and Carolyn were killed in July 1999. She waited until 2012 to write this memoir and if you like books about the Kennedys (and I do), this one is worth reading. I've always been fascinated by the Kennedy family. The way the family rose to prominence and the tragedies they've weathered is intriguing. This memoir takes a look at JFK Jr. through the lens of his personal assistant, who began working with him in the early 90s until his death in 1999. The writing wasn't anything special, but there were some interesting tidbits about John Kennedy's life and career.
