I thought this book was fantastic! It was a little boring in the beginning and towards the absolute middle. Alex, whose real name is Danny, was a witness to his father’s murder. Now Alex and his mother have to be put under witness protection. They move all over the U.S. hiding from the killer. The killer is getting closer and closer to finding them and killing Alex and his mother. I recommend this book to anyone; it is a very good book. Alex (aka Danny) and his mother, Sonya (aka Eileen) are in the witness protection program and have been since the night Steve murdered Danny’s father and put Danny in the hospital for months recovering from a gunshot wound. They’ve moved seven times before coming to Virginia Beach. Each time they changed their looks, their names, personalities, likes and dislikes; each time staying one step ahead of the professional killers looking for them. His father had caught his partner, Steve, in surveillance tapes proving that he was running guns for terrorists and Danny witnessed the shooting and Steve thought he’d killed Danny as well. They’ve moved to a town where he has real friends though and now that the killers have caught up with him, he’s about to learn who he can count on.Alex and his mother, Sonya, are on the run, again. They’ve moved, changed names, cut and dyed their hair, sold cars to junk yards, and paid cash to pick up the next one without a trace. They don’t get too close to anyone and never overstay their welcome. The people they’re running from are hot on the trail and if they want to stay alive, they’ve got to stay just a little ahead of the game. This time things are different. They like the town they’ve come to call home and Alex has made some friends, maybe real friends; the kind you can bet your life on. I LOVED THIS BOOK! What a wonderfully written thriller! If I was a reluctant reader and someone talked me into giving this book a try, I wouldn’t be reluctant anymore. If it weren’t for being employed, I would have finished it in one sitting, because it’s that compelling of a story. I was just kind of bummed it was so short. I have to admit, when I first sat down with it, saw the cover and read the first page or two I had a different idea of what it was about and had to make myself continue. Page three had me set straight and I was curious, after that I was hooked. It is an easy read, with very short chapters and after a few of them, as the reader, I actually began to think WHAT? next chapter, it’ll be okay, I’m fine.
What do You think about Fakie (2008)?
I thought it was a pretty okay book. It wasn't the best book ever. It wasn't my type of genere.

Great book for reluctant teens, especially boys! I even learned a bit about skateboarding!
