Matt kept glancing over at her on the passenger side, waiting for her to say something, but she’d been quiet since he’d found her in the garden and said that he was ready to leave. He’d been overcome with guilt for not spending any time with her. But something had happened between her and that nerd. He knew it. She’d disappeared after he’d spotted her dancing with her boss. Anxiety had made him rush through the line of signings and pictures. When he was finally done, he’d quickly found her and whisked her off. “You hungry?” He maneuvered the car into her driveway. “No. I’m just tired. Probably shouldn’t have drunk so much champagne. I have a headache.” He frowned as he parked the car. As they walked up the path to the porch, he took her keys and unlocked the door. “Did you have fun?” She threw him a dim smile. “Sure. It’s not often I get to dress up and go to a party.” She walked up the stairs without waiting for him.
