More informational than really non-fiction, I enjoyed this book because I could relate to parts of it from growing up on a small farm as well. I remember chores to feed and milk the animals both before and after school everyday; I remember the fort that was made in the hay in the backyard; I remember helping to plant and harvest the garden. A very nastalgic style book about what happends on a farm in a small town in a simple day-to-day way. It felt like sitting down to listen to my parents or grandparents talk about growing up on a farm themselves. :) This is a beautifully illustrated book depicting life on the farm. Not a book about farm animals or a story about farms, but more about what it really is like on a real farm. It is so real it feels like you should be able to drive there and see that actual farm. This is pretty informative about modern farms, but it doesn't have much of a story. It is really about what happens on the farm as the year goes by. I'd almost like to see it in the non-fiction.PW Best Books for Children 2010
