Fighting Instinct (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

Ok...I've read the reviews and I'm kind of iffy. I liked the first book and waited for the sequel...but no Tucker? I thought it was gonna be a threesome, which would have been hot. Now I'm confused...but I'll read this anyway and judge for myself cause I liked these characters in the previous book.SPOILER ALERT!!12/26/2024:Okay, so I was a bit confused but after reading some reviews before reading the story, I was prepared for that. It was a little odd. As I was reading, I kept feeling like this wasn't the orginal plot for the story. Armand and Linus. Maybe Ms. Calmes decided to take it to a different direction from what it was hinted in the first book.Like Armand...in the second book he's a hyena. Not the lion we assumed at the ending of book one. Instead Jon is the lion chasing Linus. And Tucker...poor Tucker. In the first book I was lead to believe that he was Armands mate...and I was hoping there would be a threesome mating between them and Linus but no such luck. I was disappoined.But...it was an okay read. The sappy romantic in me ate all the lovey-dovey feelings between lin and armand. Thats one thing Calmes is good at. Sappy moments that i gobble up no matter how corny. Lol 3.5 stars.I'll be waiting for Jons story. I enjoyed this second installment in the series better than the first. It had some starts and stops, especially at the beginning, but it smoothed out quickly and was a great read. The whole situation with them was hard to read and understand, which caused some disconnect for me at the beginning, and then it began to make more sense as you got the backstory, which is why it began to flow more smoothly IMO. You'll understand the title when you find out what kind of shifters they are, it's an intriguing concept that I liked a lot. The scene near the end... go Linus! That's classic Mary Calmes and I love it when she hits her groove. Readers will probably be surprised at the actual storyline between Armen and Tucker... I thought it was a bit awkward, like maybe she intended the story to go that direction then changed her mind. Anyway, it really wasn't a big deal, and it was dealt with quickly right off the bat, allowing the story to focus on Armen and Linus. And I do hope she isn't throwing another false lead out there and will indeed go with Jon's story next. It sounds interesting and I have hope, since her books can be up and down, that this one will live up to its promise. **hint, hint**
