This book tells a horrifying story of a young boy during the war in Sudan. I did however have to give it a lower score because it is written weird. The story jumps around a lot and gives little detail or vague descriptions during some parts of the story. There were also times I could skip pages at a time and not miss anything. By the last 100 pages I found myself constantly calculating in my head how many pages I had to go before I finished the novel... that is never a sign of a 5 star book. Alright, I truly had mixed emotions about this book. The story itself is very powerful but the writing is definitely not powerful.I found myself getting distracted by the writing, I found it hard to follow at times and definitely not up to a writing level that I am used to.That being said, this is still an important book to read. It covers a touchy topic and an important one for people to read about and try to understand.
