Laura Sobiech writes the story or her son (and her family and their friends)as he deals with cancer in his teenage body. Zach is determined to make the best of whatever time he has left and to leave a legacy of some kind to follow on behind him. He manages to accomplish both.I'll admit I'd never heard of Zach or his music before reading this book. It was on a recommended books list I ran across at some point. Sounded uplifting, so I decided to read it.The book is infused with life in the face of death and hope in the midst of despair. This is the heartfelt story of a mother losing her son. Having worked with so many families who have lost children, it's a story that never gets easier to experience, understand or read about. This family's story is unique in that this young man created a way to say goodbye and to leave the world a better place - and then shared it with millions. It's impossible to read this book from any other perspective then what it is- a mother telling her son's story. It's not a book you should rate, critique, or do a literature review on. It's a story to read and share. Thanks to my friend MaryEllen for sharing it with me.
