I enjoyed the plot to Cut & Run a little more than I did this one. There was more action and suspense which I love. However, watching Ty and Zane's relationship grow is fascinating. Ty annoyed me a little when I first met him, he needed to lighten up some and he dd...he so did.Zane and Ty are ordered to take a vacation after the harrowing serial killer case. Zane is having problems dealing with his addiction and he may not pass the psych test so Ty offers to take him home with him for a visit. The vacation turns out to be a little more than R&R when the men decide to take a hike in the mountains. We meet Ty's family and you soon see why Ty is how he is. Earl, Ty's father is a gruff old fashioned kind of man while his brother, Deacon is more like Ty. Well...except he is a psychiatrist. Did Ty take Zane home for R&R or to have Deacon analyze his defects?I'm really excited to get to Fish & Chips! Thanks to book No.1 "Cut & Run" and the perfect introduction of Ty and Zane I had to continue with this one.Ty and Zane are forced to go on "vacations" because they are still not up to their good form yet. Burns wants them to get their mind off of the dramatical events from "Cut & Run". That's why they drive all the way to Ty's parents to visit them for a feek days.I really liked this book because it's not about a case in the first place. The boys can finally relax a bit and have the chance to get to know each other...not only because they are involved in a private manner. but also because they are partners at work and they need to fully rely on each other.Ty decides it's perfect idea to go hiking in the mountain with Deuce (his brother), his dad and Zane. I was sooooo looking forward to it...but you know that there is always trouble rising when the boys are involved. In this case it involved some people digging for gold and placing bombs in the mountains.Of course there are guns and fights involved and someone close to dying. While in the first book Ty almost lost Zane, it's the other way around in book 2 ;) And here comes my favorite part of if: Ty realizing he loves Zane shortly before he blacks out. Of course he wouldn't admit it to him or to someone else. That was so typically Ty. But I knew he would be the first to come to terms with their whole situation.Ty and Zane doesn't really act as if their are totally in love. and that's what I love about it. Other books go too fast and announce the ILY words. Not with these boys. They are (as I said in another review) too Alpha to admit their feelings. And so it's more a pyhsical interaction, which I also like. so realistic because in the world it mostly works like that.
