Yay for action! The story revolves around vampire politics, although that is not apparent until very late in the book. The evening begins with a Black Friday shopping trip with Jesse and Mercy. However, their failure to contact any of the pack members alerted them that something was wrong. They ended up in an accident and they were dropped off at Mercy's garage instead. There, they met up with Gabriel and Ben, who managed to escape but was injured. He filled in Mercy on the attack on the pack. Men posing as federal agents captured Adam's pack. They were on a run from these unknown men. Mercy wanted to call Zee but the Fae debacle had every faerie unavailable. They went to Sam's place first and there, Ariana treated Ben. They left after they realized that they were being tracked via Mercy's phone. They dropped off Gabriel and Jesse at Sylvia's to keep them safe. Then, Mercy saved Kyle after he was being beaten. Mercy enlisted Stefan's help in the matter. They got the police involved to keep society's support and show that the werewolves were not the aggressors. Through their mate bond, Mercy was able to connect to Adam. She listened in on the attacker's plan to have Adam assassinate a well known congressman so that the radicals would have an excuse to attack the supernaturals. Public support had been for the Fae since the government was willing to release a serial killer. Other rogue agents from CNTRP were also involved in the capture. They were hired by money but they left after two of their members were killed by their employees. It turned out that the money behind the operation was from a vampire. He had been taking over numerous vampire seethes and his next target was Marsilia's. He wanted her weakened and so attacked Adam, who he perceived as Marsilia's ally. He wanted them out of the way. He tried to kill Mercy twice since he was scared of her abilities. He was a necromancer and she had the ability related to death. It isn't clear to what extent her power will reach but she is discovering it little by little. Here, she exorcises a lot of ghosts, who served as fuel to Frost. It was during the battle and it was cool. I like the whole vampire battle. I want to know more about Wulfe. He is unhinged but he seems really interesting. The battle ended with Mercy killing Frost and Adam just mauling him when he found her battling the vampire. When everything winded down, they went back home to pick up the pieces. Peter had been killed during the capture. Honey is grieving. I felt really sad for Peter when he is about to leave. Before Mercy released his ghost, he wanted to sleep beside Honey one last time. I felt so sad for them both. I wish nice things like love lasted forever but they inevitably come to an end. Mercy pondered about that as she slipped into bed with Adam and I hoped theirs would have a happier fate. My favourite part of the book is the little humour sprinkled in here and there. Kyle complaining about Mercy's antecedents was pretty funny. Mercy stabbing the ghost with the Fae sword was also hilarious, especially when the ghost was already freaked out about being dead and bound. These little things just bring the story to life and gives it a lot of character. It was enjoyable. I'm glad that there were a lot of action in this book though. It had a really good pace and it was enjoyable. I don't think I disliked anything.

Again, if you've made it this far, you're going to be very happy.
