Gaining Ground: A Story Of Farmers' Markets, Local Food, And Saving The Family Farm (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
As a writer, small business owner, and person considering growing my own food, I am so glad that this book was recommended to me. I very much identified with the struggles Forrest fought through starting his farm, as we have struggled through many similar battles ourselves. This book was funny, touching, and gives a great behind-the-scenes look at start-up farming. I am so glad that the author chose to share his story. A must read! Forrest Pritchard shares his own story of saving his family's farm through local Farmer's Markets. Though he is quite negative concerning the USDA restrictions (and rightfully so), the good news is USDA is hearing what people like Forrest Pritchard and Joel Salatin are saying. New programs are available with the new 2014 Farm Bill, encouraging local Farmers Markets and the thriving of farms such as Forrest's.

Looking forward to reading this after staying at the B&B at his farm.
