For GOW fans you will be able to find your way through the story quickly. For fans that play the game and read the comics Aspho Fields is a prequel to the Games explaining more back story for its characters like Marcus and his friendship with Dom and his older brother, his relationship with Anya, his father as well as some of Bernie's past. (Although die hard fans will notice there are several chunks of information and story lines left out of the books you can find more of the story and history found in the GOW comic/manga series.)Karen does a surprisingly good job on this book and manages to stay true to the characters that so many have grown attached to making it a fairly decent read. I read this on the recommendation of a friend. The whole thing was pretty meh, in my opinion. Then again, I've also never played the video game. The book assumes the reader already has knowledge of the world and characters from having played the game. I guess it provides some history which could be of interest to people who already know the environment. Maybe I would have enjoyed this more if I were a gamer, but I'm not.
Ties in the story very well. Tells the story of the Pendulum wars, and Doms older brother.
