I gave Storm's Heart 3.5 StarsWhile Storm's Heart was no Dragon Bound, it still held it's own as a great read. It was fast paced, funny, entertaining, and broke my heart in quite a few places. The main characters also held their own and kept you buried in their story. Tiago, the Wyr thunderbird is called on to find Niniane, aka Tricks, Wyr friend and new Queen of the Dark Fae. She has gone missing after an assignation attempt on her life. As one of Drago's best, Tiago heads to Chicago to find and protect Tricks, whether she wants it or not. The interplay between them made the book for me. Niniane's a modern girl and Tiago is a Neanderthal . He may live in the modern world, but his beliefs are from the dark ages and he had no interest in changing. Niniane was having none of that! I loved how she dealt with his chauvinistic bossiness. She got in his face, argued back, held her ground, yell and screamed if thats what took. For such a tiny thing, Niniane held her own with Dr. Death. Their story was fast paced and kept me engrossed. Between fighting to keep Niniane's from being killed, to keep Tiago from killing anyone he doesn't like or finds suspicious, and from frustrating each other, Tiago and Niniane spend their time trying to decide of they should jump each other's bones. Their relationship causes Niniane more problems than they predicted and they have to decide if it is the best thing for her and her as a new Queen. While they deal with the main pressing issues, Niniane, has to try to find a safe path through the Dark Fae court and the fact that she will be ;having behind her friends and family in Drago's demesne. Niniane and Tiago's story is complicated and filled with layers of intrigue. It is a fun, easy read. While I did enjoy it, there were moments that I became annoyed with Tiago's bullying behavior and Niniane's willingness to trust and like every damn person she met. Even knowing that her life was in danger. A little more pessimism would have been wise. I still do fully recommend this book. I enjoyed reading it and it is a great second book in the Elder Races series.
