Getting The Pretty Back: Friendship, Family, And Finding The Perfect Lipstick (2010) - Plot & Excerpts
There's nothing at all to distinguish this from the mass of other "lifestyle" books out there, other than the author being a famous actress. Some of it was cute, most of it was boring and not exactly earth-shattering. The most interesting tidbits involved her experiences in the acting world but there wasn't nearly enough gossip to keep me from skimming. Would have preferred to read a memoir instead of a done-to-death self-help book. Molly Ringwald gives advice on everything from the perfect dinner party, to break ups, to friendships in the age of Facebook and she teaches you to pack the perfect carry on luggage. Many have not liked this book, but I did. You just have to take it for what it is....a kitchy, fun read. Put it next to the nightstand and leave it there for that 20-30 minutes of reading just before bed. It's the girl version of the Bathroom Reader.
What do You think about Getting The Pretty Back: Friendship, Family, And Finding The Perfect Lipstick (2010)?
Snappy writing saves this book of mostly common sense advice.
