LOVE!!!! Continuing the story of Hannah and the other orphans started in Calico Canyon, it was wonderful to be able to follow up with Grace and Daniel's story too!! They are hysterical!! I love all those boys!!I'll admit when I started this book all the squabbling between Hannah and Grant just about made me put it down!! I mean honestly, who could misunderstand each other so completely so many times!! Then it got better and my eyes were opened to a whole new side of American history with the abandoned kids working in the factories and the orphan train and my heart just broke with little Libby and everything that those kids went through!! Thank God for Child Labor Laws!! Reading this story was painful in some ways knowing that what these children went through is more than likely exactly what happened in reality to a lot of kids during that time period! Its heartwrenching and devastating! This is a great book!! It has a solid Christian message of Hope, Faith, and God's promise to always work things out for those of us that trust in Him!! Gingham Mountain is the 3rd book in a series, but I read it without reading the other two first. There were parts that hinted to the previous stories, and a sub-plot about a former character, but it wasn't completely awful having no prior knowledge about them (in fact, reading the synopsis and reviews for the other 2 helped a lot). There were so many parts in this book that made me laugh. Mary Connealy's writing style is SO humorous! I enjoyed this one.
What do You think about Gingham Mountain (2009)?
Such cute books. Loved the whole series. Great to have clean romance novels to read.
