Girl Who Never Was: Otherworld Book One (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
So, you open this book expecting to be slowly sucked in to the world inside the book. And what you get was far from it. You are sucked into the book, but not slowly. And that makes the first couple chapters extremely confusing. It was so confusing for a while that it was annoying. However, that may have been what the writer was planning. Because I don't think I Would have read it so fast if I wasn't so dang curious as to what was going on. And it did get better.Even though it started confusing, it became a little endearing towards the end.Though I must confess, I did not like Selkie. She doesn't seem like the heroine type to me. Also, es was a bit annoying at times. And then we have the end. Did Ben and Selkie have a personality switch? Because it sure seems like it. Once again though, that could have been the writers intent, To make you want to read the next book (which is what I'll be doing). This book was very interesting in a good way. I enjoyed it for the most part. However, at times I felt as though I was more confused about the story than the main character was, and I wasn't even the one told that I was a faerie princess. I like the romance and the fantasy/mystery of it all but sometimes the author worded things weird. She definitely has a unique writing style. Overall I found it a fun read and I will definitely be reading the next one!
