Maybe it was amazing because I feel I have so much in common with the young Kelly Corrigan--mostly, the desire to travel and see things. I felt a kinship with her the moment I she expressed her mantra: "Things happen when you leave the house." Reading this book, I think, is the going to be one of the great "I told you so"s of my life. At some point, I might find myself with a family of my own--children, a husband--and I will think of this book and I will think, "She told me so." Easy read-I really like her relationship with the kids. Her experiences with the family were so compelling. The tie in to her mom was really lacking-so obvious her mother is still alive. It would be interesting to see how it is written differently if her mom was no longer around. The ending-I don't want to give it away but made it a 3 star-her lack of realization of why things did/did not happen bothers me. She appears to not realize how self absorbed she was (is?)
Heartwarming mother/daughter love story. The last few chapters brought the book up to 4 stars.
