God Has Better Things To Do Than My Laundry (and Other Observations By An Overly Dramatic Mom) (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

I love people who can make everyday events funny. Heather has that ability. She reminded me of myself so many times but if I were to tell the story everyone would have tuned me out! This is not the type of book that called me to read it cover to cover as quickly as possible. It is a collection, in absolutely no particular order, of short, funny stories. When I was looking for a light-hearted read or I knew that I only had a few moments this was the book that I gravitated to. I enjoyed it! Yes another book I got for free from Amazon and thought "sure, why not?". While it was entertaining and funny to a certain extend, it was far from being my favorite book. The beginning was... okay. It felt like reading someone else's blog, which isn't that bad, really. A lot of things Heather said throughout the book reminded me of my own mother and she did describe several situations to which I have already been through, which makes the book somewhat familiar. On the other hand, the parts where she talks about God bored me to death. Don't get me wrong, I understand that people have their own religious beliefs, but it really looked like, towards the end of the book, God is the only thing the author talked about. And while I do respect (or at least try to respect) other people's religious in the best way I can, it felt like I was being forced to go through some sort of indoctrination. The way she talked about it through the book was heavily different to the way she did it on the end of the book. Also, as mentioned by a couple of people, this book doesn't exactly seem to have a structure or a progression. It just throws random facts of the author's daily life at you, without any real purpose. But then again, understand that this is not a self-help book. Not a bad book, but not the best I've ever read. It's a nice, light thing to read when you don't have anything better to do in your free time.
